After applying for refuge in Germany, a group of very talented Ukrainian children set out to achieve something extraordinary.
After putting their all into a rendition of the well-known song “Something Just Like This,” which talks about love, simplicity, and humanity, the adolescent vocalists, known as the Color Music Choir, banded together for peace and gained international recognition.

The Color Music Choir isn’t your typical kids’ choir. This gifted group of young singers, who were originally from Ukraine, are well-known for their emotionally driven concerts and flawless harmonies. They create captivating choral masterpieces from well-known melodies.
And when they sing, nobody will ever understand the pain these kids, who range in age from 4 to 18, have gone through.
Our lives, our prospects, and our capacity for creation have all been profoundly altered by the conflict. The Color Music Choir says on Facebook that it has changed during the last two and a half years and that its new home is in Braunschweig, Germany.
Today, a group of strong Ukrainian immigrant youngsters have found protection in Germany. These kids are beginning anew and reconstructing their lives in strange places.
In order to provide “a cozy, safe space for our young singers, many of whom have endured unimaginable pain…,” Color Music says it is reconstructing what was lost in Ukraine. We provide them the opportunity to recover, develop, and rekindle their dreams via music.
Offspring of conflict
The children wanted to use their voices to “bring hope and joy to everyone who listens,” as they “have experienced war, displacement, and loss.”
“They motivate us with their resilience, their joy, and their will to keep going in spite of everything.”
Coldplay and the Chainsmokers’ 2017 hit song “Something Just Like This” was the ideal music to communicate their inspirational message and call for “peace for Ukraine.”
To polish every note, synchronize their voices, and capture the spirit of the song’s dreamy, hopeful lyrics, the choir spent months practicing the song.
The response was nothing short of phenomenal after the choir posted their video to YouTube. Their moving performance went viral on social media in a matter of days, garnering praise from over 102 million people globally.
Their exquisite harmonies, beautiful voices, and the unadulterated emotion of their performance were all praised in the deluge of comments that followed.
“Your catchphrase, which never grows old.” May Ukraine be blessed! One internet user remarks in the Facebook post of the choir.
“The angels of light singing within them for Ukraine and for everyone in the world moved me to tears of gratitude.” Feel it in your heart. A second is shared, “Thank you (sic).”
“I’m praying that you’re persevering as best you can, not allowing your spirit to be crushed, and finding some solace in music,” another person continues.
Something remarkable
One of the most well-known versions of the song ever recorded was the choir’s cover of “Something Just Like This.”
But their performance was exceptional for reasons other than the numbers. It was the unadulterated emotion that resonated with the audience. This choir served as a reminder of the beauty of music—its ability to uplift, inspire, and unite us all in a world full with distractions.
Their “Something Just Like This” viral success serves as a reminder that when young talent is developed, it may produce something genuinely spectacular, in addition to being an amazing YouTube milestone.
One thing is evident as we follow their journey further: this choir is not only creating music, they are creating history.
Have you yet to hear their cover? Go listen to it if you haven’t already; you might end up hitting “replay” repeatedly!
